Studies on Seed Propagation Method of Oenanthe stolonifera DC.

Abstract
|
|
|
In order to find out an effective propagation method of Oenanthe stolonifera which has been propagated vegetatively so far, effect of several seed-washing treatments were investigated. The results were as follows:
1. Washing with warm running water (25℃) for one month resulted in dormancy breakdown of seeds.
2. The temperature of the water functioned as a major factor. The lower temperature than 25℃, took more time to break the dormancy. Higher temperature than 25℃ did not produce desirable result.
3. Washing effect on breaking dormancy of O. stolonifera was promoted by oxygen supply.
4. Embryos in the seeds of O. stolonifera began to grow in about 20 days after beginning of washing and became a good condition for germination in about 30 days of washing treatment.
